Is there accommodation near by? Can you recommend a hotel?
The venue is very central, and there are lots of hotels/AirBnBs etc nearby. We don’t stay in hotels in Edinburgh, so we can’t really recommend any in particular! Edinburgh is very walkable and busable, so if you’re anywhere around the New Town you’ll be able to walk it and any further out it’ll be busable. Check Google Maps directions for advice, it’s pretty reliable here.
What’s the dress code?
Standard wedding faire. Nerds – not a Qwertee, find an actual shirt
Is it all religious and that?
No, it’s a Humanist ceremony by our lovely celebrant, David
Is the reception somewhere different?
No, everything happens at the RCPE.
Will there be a cash bar?
Yes, there’ll be a cash bar during the reception for hard/soft drinks
Will we be outdoors?
No, but there’s a (non-smoking) garden inside the RCPE buildings that we’ll have access to, if it’s not raining…
Is the venue accessible?
Yes, let us know in the RSVP if you need stepless access. There is an accessible lift from the street to the building connecting to ours. We’ll arrange in advance for the duty manager to let you in if you let us know in your RSVP. Once inside the building there is a flight of stairs to the floor we’re on, but there is a lift to the floor we’re using. The staff will show you to it as it’s through a secret door. The ceremony and reception are all on the same level, and there’s an accessible bathroom on that floor.
Can I throw confetti?
No, apparently. Helium balloons are a no-no too. (No mention of lasers and flamethrowers though, so go nuts)
Can I smoke in the venue?
No, and the garden is non-smoking. You’ll be able to access Queen Street for this.
